Educational Epcot

Awoke to another thunderstorm and downpour, so just kept sleeping. Arrived in Epcot by 10am, it was quiet and such a fab place and then weather had cleared up. Not many rides but so much interactive educational stuff which was right up our street.

Low point for Ross and I was the mission space ride. You had a choice of orange team (extreme) or green team (mild). After finding his courage at the magic kingdom rides, Ross was keen on the orange team experience.
As you got nearer they did have warnings on numerous occasions about how extreme it was and was not recommended for those who did not like hectic motion and confined spaces. Why did I not take enough note! It was horrid, you sat on chairs and then they slotted on the front of the pod right in front of your face. Straight away Ross said 'mom, I don't like this' and I was also starting to think that it was a bit close to comfort. Well, 5,4,3,2,1 and we were off, they spin you around so fast that you feel G-Force and you feel your face and cheeks pull back into a maniacal grimace. The pressure on your body is immense, Ross shouting' I don't like this, mom please get me out of here, I am begging you, please mom, help me'. It was awful as a mom you want to help your child and I was strapped into a chair hurtling into 'space' at g-force speed. He was sobbing, I was claustrophobic and we had to handle another 3 minutes as they could not stop the ride once they had started it. I just managed to reach around the chair to hold his hand and stave off my own panic attack when the pilot announced that we had left earth's atmosphere and were now going to slingshot around the moon on our way to mars. Off we went again at great speed and finally landed in Mars (thankfully Trevor had taken over all driving responsibility) but still managed to overshoot the runway and we were precariously balanced at the edge of a cliff (like the bus in the Italian job). For one moment it felt like we we going to topple over and have an awful dropping feeling, but we balanced back. As Ross says the best part of the ride was when they opened the doors and guided us to the nearest exit. Never again!!
So to the highlights, Ross got to design his own roller coaster ride and then he and Trev got to experience it. It was all about speed, momentum, gradient etc and he just loved it. Here are the 2 of them in the capsule riding his ride.

At Epcot there is a lake, around which are the different countries. We enjoyed amazing 360 degree movies in Canada and China and stopped for a cafe au lait, creme brûlée and jus du pomme in France.

A beer in England, played drums in Africa tried hats on in Mexico

and then settled down at a clear spot to wait for the final light and firework display at 9pm. It was an awesome display to music with fireworks, lasers, fountains and the reflections off the lake. An excellent way to finish our stay in Disney. Ross took this pic at sunset.
