Key west and sundown

Awoke to an absolutely fierce tropic storm, reminded us of when we lived in Durban. You could barely count one second between lightening and thunder.

This was followed by torrential rain and this made such a great excuse to lie in bed until 9am. Ross was in his element as there was a TV in his room and as he has only woken at 8 (normally up before 6am), I was more than happy for him to lie in bed watching TV.
Drove to the bottom of Duvall Street which includes the southern most point in the US. Amazing as the last time I was here, with my parents back in 1989, the place was surrounded by stalls with people selling conch shells and corral. Both I am sure are now protected.

We took a very hot walk along the street which must be over a mile and stopped at Blue Heaven. It has to be the most amazing restaurant we have eaten in this holiday. Atmosphere a winner as it appears to just be tables in someone's backyard with games for kids and even chickens running around under your table.

A bit ironic as Trevor ate jerk chicken with black beans and corn bread for lunch. If you come to key west, definitely a place you should go to.

Came home to the very welcome aircon and swimming pool. Got the bikes out and cycled to the beach late in the afternoon once it had started cooling a bit.

In the evening we went to watch the famous sunset at Mallory Square with all artists doing their shows and trying to seduce the crowd to come to their performance.
Ross was enthralled by the cat man, he was like a bad French version of Mr Bean and he had 3 cats that were begrudgingly performing the tricks he had taught them but every now and again one would go AWOL and attempt to make a runner into the crowd.

We skipped the contortion artist, the sword swallower's gagging did not encourage us to hang around so we finally settled on a young boy juggling with fire.

The sunset was breathtaking.
