Leaving Fernandino

After such rough seas the night before we were hoping for an easier night where we could all enjoy dinner. We had 8 hours of travel with only 2 in the open seas, the rest in the channels between islands. Thankfully the 2 hours were between midnight and 2 am and they were bad. Woke the 3 of us and it was a struggle to stay flat in your bunk but at least the boat was just pitching forward and backwards. This is a picture of the bar, note the glass of pills.

So a full house at dinner last night, with the kids at their own table still teasing Ross about his accent and he is constantly asked to say "Harry Potter" which then brings peals of laughter.
The adults were in for a treat as Karina our guide had haggled with some local fishermen (who had the correct permit) to buy some lobster. Weird looking things but just so delicious when cooked.

We had some interesting debate as during the visit to Fernandino, Malena, the guide had rescued a sea lion pup that had got wedged into a crevice of the lava flow. The biggest rule in the Galapagos is that you must not touch or interact with nature and do nothing to change the evolution and health of creatures on the island. It is very difficult to walk away from the plaintive whimpers and distressed cries from a baby sea lion, although as 1 of the guys said, it is about survival of the fittest and the act of kindness has perpetuated a 'stupid' gene in the sea lion gene pool. I will leave you to decide what you would have done but here are some pictures of the rescue.
